Advisory: New Rules Effective June 15, 2018

The Superintendent of Real Estate has amended the effective date of new consumer protection rules from March 15, 2018 to June 15, 2018.

Further proposed rules will be published for consultation by the Superintendent in the coming weeks at www.gov.bc.ca/OSRE. The Superintendent will notify real estate licensees directly when the consultation period opens.

The Real Estate Council of BC is working together with the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate to ensure the successful implementation of new rules, and continuing to focus on the consumer protection goals that the rules are intended to achieve. We encourage all licensees and interested members of the public to contribute their thoughts on the proposed rules by submitting comments to the Superintendent during the consultation period.

As part of its mandate for industry education, the Council continues to develop and distribute information and educational resources to support licensees to comply with their legislative requirements. We encourage consumers and licensees to check the Council website regularly for a revised implementation schedule and content updates.
