5 Reasons to Register for the Rule Changes Course

Have you registered for the Rule Changes: Agency and Disclosure Course yet? If not, here are five key reasons not to delay any longer.

(1) It’s the Professional Thing to Do: The course was developed by the UBC Sauder School of Business in collaboration with RECBC to help you understand and comply with the changes effective from June 15, 2018. By completing the course, you’ll show your commitment to professionalism and to providing skilled and knowledgeable services to consumers.
(2) It’s Mandatory: Starting October 1st, 2018, when you apply to renew your licence you must show proof that you have completed the Rule Changes: Agency and Disclosure course. (Trading and rental management services licensees only – does not apply to those licensed for strata management services).
(3) It’s Online: Register for the Rule Changes: Agency and Disclosure online through the UBC Sauder School of Business website. Have your licence number and UBC Real Estate Division student ID number (if you have one) ready when you register for the course. Don’t know your licence number? Find ithere .
(4) It Only Takes A Few Hours: This is a self-paced online course that takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete. On the registration page, select a start date that suits your schedule from the list of available dates. You’ll have three days from the start date you select in which to complete the course, or you will need to re-register.
(5) You Can Prepare in Advance: The course is based on the information published in our Licensee Knowledge Base. Check out the resources there before starting the course to familiarize yourself with the changes to agency and disclosure rules.

Note: You do not have to take the course if you are licensed only for strata management services.

We’re Listening

This fall, RECBC will report to the Superintendent of Real Estate summarizing the first 90 days of the implementation of the agency and disclosure rules. To gather feedback for the report and hear from industry members directly, RECBC’s Executive Officer, Erin Seeley has travelled across the province meeting with groups of managing brokers to hear their perspectives about the implementation process.

Farewell from Real Advice

Hard to believe, but it’s now three months since the changes to the rules were introduced, and we’re bringing this e-newsletter to an end. While this is the final regular issue of Real Advice, we will continue to release them as-needed in the future.

We will continue to add to the resources in the Licensee Knowledge Base in the coming months (watch for new videos coming soon!). You’ll also continue to receive the Report from Council newsletter, and occasional e-blasts with time-sensitive information or important regulatory updates.
