The Real Estate Council of BC is accountable to the Minister of Finance through its appointed Council members. All members of Council are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. The appointment of Council members by government protects real estate consumers and safeguards the public interest, ensuring that the Council benefits from a diversity of perspectives on regulatory and governance best practices, along with industry expertise.

The Council members oversee policy implementation and direction and, in cooperation with senior management, set strategic direction. The Council monitors RECBC’s organizational performance. The Council delegates responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of RECBC to the Executive Officer.
