The Professional Standards Advisor will work in close collaboration with the Council’s other Professional Standards Advisors to inform both licensees and members of the public about the standards for real estate practices required under the Real Estate Services Act, Regulation, the Council Rules and the General Bylaws.

The role of the Professional Standards Advisor is to assist licensees to practice in a professional manner consistent with the regulatory requirements, and to assist consumers in understanding licensees’ legislated obligations and real estate standards of practice.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Director of Legal & Compliance will lead the Legal Services and Compliance Department staff ensuring the oversight, planning, and implementation of legal services and regulatory compliance.

An experienced professional with a passion for consumer protection, the Director of Legal & Compliance will be an exceptional people manager and process builder who will mentor his/her team in an atmosphere of respect, inclusion and collaboration in support of RECBC’s values and principles

Reporting to the Director of Legal & Compliance, the Manager of Legal Services will lead the Legal Services Department staff in the fair, consistent and timely assessment and resolution of legal files, ensuring the public interest is met in the outcome.

The hallmarks of success of this role will be to lead and empower a team of committed staff, identify process improvement and modernization opportunities, and establish robust training and development programs for staff, while ensuring transparency for the legal process and its outcomes.
