Summary
Murray Allan Thompson advertised that a strata corporation's amenities included a recreation center, when in fact the recreation center was owned by another entity. By doing so, he published advertising that he knew (or reasonably ought to have known) contained false or misleading statements or misrepresentations.
Mr. Thompson did not correct the Property Disclosure Statement, which his client incorrectly completed, indicating that the strata corporation was not involved in a lawsuit, when in fact Mr. Thompson knew that the strata corporation had filed a lawsuit.
Mr. Thompson did not make a written disclosure to the strata corporation and to his managing broker before providing strata management services to (or on behalf of) the strata corporation of which he was an owner.
Results
A discipline committee of the Council has ordered the following:
- Mr. Thompson is reprimanded and must pay a discipline penalty of $2,500.00 to the Council.
- Mr. Thompson must pay enforcement expenses of $1,500.00 to the Council.
