Summary
Eric Robert Redeker failed in his responsibilities as managing broker of First Choice Realty.
He allowed a licensee to provide strata management services when she was not licensed to do so, and to accept remuneration outside of her brokerage. Licensees may only accept remuneration for real estate services through their brokerage.
As a result, Mr. Redeker failed to be in active charge and control of the brokerage, and failed to adequately supervise the brokerage's representatives. His actions contravened section 6(2) of the Real Estate Services Act, and section 3-1 of the Rules.
Results
A discipline committee of the Council has ordered the following:
- Mr. Redeker is reprimanded, and must pay a discipline penalty of $2,500.00 to the Council.
- Mr. Redeker must pay enforcement expenses of $1,500.00 to the Council.
- At his own expense, Mr. Redeker must successfully complete the Broker's Remedial Education Course.
