Summary
Umer Farooq Butt failed to make appropriate inquiries and investigations regarding whether the seller, or anyone acting on the seller's behalf, had obtained relevant permits from the local municipality for renovations that had been undertaken. Mr. Butt failed to act in the best interest of his buyer clients, contravening section 3-3(a) of the Council Rules, failed to use reasonable care and skill, contravening section 3-4 of the Council Rules, and failed to discover relevant facts about the property his clients were considering acquiring, contravening section 3-3(h) of the Council Rules.
Results
A discipline committee of the Council has ordered the following:
- Umer Farooq Butt is suspended for seven (7) days from March 9, 2016 to March 15, 2016.
- He must pay enforcement expenses of $1,500.00 to the Council.
