Activating My Old Licence

Individuals who have previously held a real estate licence in BC and wish to re-license need to determine whether or not they are qualified for licensing by emailing the Council at education@recbc.ca requesting information about how to re-license.  Please include your full legal name (as previously licensed) and your date of birth.

Upon receipt of your email the Council will provide you with information regarding your education re-qualification date and instructions on how to re-license.  Due to the number of requests the Council receives it may take up to 10 business days to respond to your request.

Individuals within their re-qualification date will be notified of this and will be permitted to re-licence. Individuals who have gone past their re-qualification date are required to rewrite the appropriate licensing examination and will be provided with the information, costs and forms necessary to do so.   Please click here for the Council’s re-qualification policy.

Please note: individuals who have been unlicensed for more than five years, with the exception of UBC Urban Land Economic Diplomas (with Real Estate Management Option), and UBC Bachelor of Commerce graduates (with the appropriate real estate courses), will be required to rewrite the appropriate licensing examination. Those individuals re-qualifying as representatives licensed to provide trading services may also be required to complete an Accelerated version of the Residential Trading Services Applied Practice Course.

The UBC Real Estate Division has regularly scheduled exam dates every March, June, September and December. Individuals may also rewrite their examination at the UBC Computer Examination Centre in Vancouver.
