Current Positions

 

Compliance Assistant

The Council is seeking a Compliance Assistant who will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Legal Counsel – Compliance and the Compliance Officers, and for the general administration and timely flow of complaint files.

The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and accurate, with the ability to deal with shifting priorities, and to multitask at a high level of productivity in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong computer proficiency is required, including a familiarity with Adobe Pro and database systems.

Compliance Officers

The Council is seeking to grow its compliance team with the addition of two new Compliance Officers. The Compliance Officers will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to conduct investigations of inquiries and complaints from the public, other real estate licensees and regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies and other organizations.

Each successful candidate will combine exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, an inquisitive mind, and attention to detail with a background in investigations or the real estate industry. This experience could have been gained as a real estate licensee, an investigative or compliance officer in another regulatory agency, or as a legal or law enforcement professional. In this role, the successful candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities, quickly synthesize and analyze complex situations, and understand the importance of due diligence and process.

Professional Standards Advisor

The real estate sector in BC is in a period of unprecedented growth and public attention. This has led to a significant increase in the number of practice and conduct related enquiries from consumers and industry members. With the goal of providing more proactive advice and education to licensees and the public, the Council recently created the Professional Standards Advisor position as the first point of contact for licensees and consumers. The Council is now looking to increase its advisory capacity through the addition of a further Professional Standards Advisor.

The Professional Standards Advisors’ mandate is to inform both licensees and consumers about the standards for real estate practice required under the Real Estate Services Act, Regulation, the Council Rules and the General Bylaws. The role of the Professional Standards Advisors is to assist licensees to practice in a professional manner consistent with the requirements of the legislation, and to assist consumers in understanding licensees’ legislated obligations and real estate standards of practice. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to help build and deliver proactive educational programs and initiatives for licensees and consumers.

The successful candidate will combine exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and conflict resolution skills with a background in the real estate industry or in a regulatory environment. In this role, the candidate must be able to think quickly but at the same time ensure a disciplined, consistent approach. The ability to quickly grasp and interpret policy and legislation will be critical.
